Mr. Vernon A.C. Gevecker was born January 19, 1909 in St. Louis, MO and received his early education in the public schools there, graduating from Soldan High School in 1927. He attended Washington University in St. Louis for two years before transferring to the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla where he enrolled in the Civil Engineering program. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from MSM (Missouri S&T) in 1931.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gevecker committed great resources to the academic experience. He believed education opened the doors for future achievement and advancement. In this regard, he felt a responsibility to decrease the financial burden in pursuit of these ideals. In his honor, a memorial scholarship fund has been established.
