PIKE WINS THIRD CONSECUTIVE GREEK WEEK CHAMPIONSHIP

September 19, 2024

Published by Gavin Underhill

Nobody does Greek Week like Pi Kappa Alpha at Missouri S&T.

After yet another historic run, your Alpha Kappa PIKEs are Greek Week Champions for the third year in a row.

Starting on Friday, September 6th and running through Saturday, September 14th, Greek Week is a competition of grit, athleticism, and endurance that pushes each houses athletes to their limits. It is also a competition of sportsmanship and of mutual respect for one another, regardless of organizational affiliation. PIKE believes strongly in each of these core values and traits, and in return continues to exhibit why they are the prime fraternity on campus.

Starting with Opening Ceremonies on September 6th, the chapter highlighted their own IFC God, Braxton Schmedeke, as Apollo, and competed in events such as Cornhole, Die, Trashcan Football, and various Track and Field games. Opening Ceremonies proved to be tough competition for PIKE, leaving the night with very little success. The tides would soon turn for the better.

On Saturday, September 7th, Opening Games are in full swing. PIKE wipes the floor, taking first place in Spikeball and Volleyball, with a close runner up finish in Ultimate Frisbee. During the rest of the week, PIKE continued to dominate in events like Soccer, Basketball, Pickleball, and Mario Kart, where they placed first, as well as podium positions in games like our Chariot Showcase, Talent Show, and Hercules Competitions.

Closing Games on Saturday, September 14th, were once again a dominant series of games for PIKE. Placing first in Kickball and Tug of War, as well as a podium position in Flag Football, Greek Week came to a close once more.

And once more, the trophy is back home in the Alpha Kappa Chapter house.

A very big thank you to the following people who made Greek Week a success:

  • Andrew Dutton - Chapter President

  • Braxton Schmedeke - IFC Representative

  • Daniel Weishaar - Special Events Chair

  • Evan Mantz - IFC Representative

  • Joe Borgschulte - Intramural Games Chair

  • Keaton Roof - IFC Representative/Chapter Treasurer

  • Ryan Holland - External Vice President

  • and MANY MORE that helped with organizing teams and tryouts, building/designing art, etc.

Also, a massive congratulations to the lovely ladies of Chi Omega - Eta Kappa Chapter, for their outstanding Greek Week win in the sorority bracket!

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the Elysian Fields in 2025.

About Pi Kappa Alpha

The Alpha Kappa Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha was established in 1905 in Rolla, Missouri, and has remained faithful to its roots for over 115 years. Despite changes in the university's name, Alpha Kappa has excelled in athletics, scholarship, and service, making it one of the top Pike chapters nationwide. With approximately 120 members each year, Pi Kappa Alpha is one of the largest fraternities on campus. In its long history, Alpha Kappa has won the prestigious Robert Adger Smythe award 30 times.

Excellence in everything

Proudly striving to be the best fraternity on campus, Pi Kappa Alpha has achieved remarkable success. They have been all-campus intramural champions for 23 out of the past 25 years, and their members include varsity and club athletes from various sports. The fraternity consistently maintains a GPA above the all-men and all-Greek averages. Their chapter house, built in 2000 and renovated in 2007, provides comfortable living space for 104 members. Participation in multiple campus organizations is highly encouraged among the members.
