When thinking about joining a fraternity, it is common to have many questions.
Listed below are a few answers for questions you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Currently, Pi Kappa Alpha has a GPA of 3.34 which is above last semester’s all-greek average (3.26) and all-male average (3.24). Fraternities like Pi Kappa Alpha have houses filled with brothers of all majors who are willing to help. Pi Kappa Alpha specifically, has many measures in place to improve GPAs and success in school such as:

    • Study hours Sunday through Thursday for members interested in extra help

    • Campus approved file system with previous tests, labs, and homework

    • GPA scholarships awarded semesterly for any member who earns a 3.2 or better

    • In house tutoring sessions for classes across all disciplines

  • Our fraternity’s rent is competitive with that of campus approved housing and has benefits that can further lower that price. Some of these benefits include

    • Over $100,000 awarded in scholarships each year

    • Flexible payment plans to fit each members financial needs

    • Rent reduction options for older members.

    • Wide Alumni base that can aid in securing internships and jobs

    • House provided parking which removes the need for on-campus parking

    • These perks can result in fraternity housing being less expensive than the dorms. Our treasurer provides a cost breakdown ensuring you know exactly what you are paying for.

  • • This fraternity has a strict no hazing policy. Our new member program consists of a four week process in which new members learn responsibility, accountability, chivalry, and leadership through weekly meetings that also teach about Pi Kappa Alpha as a fraternity. House responsibilities are split evenly between all in-house members via a house role system based on member performance. We strive to bring the fraternity closer by encouraging members to attend leadership retreats, community service projects, and activities designed to build friendships among the new and old fraternity members.

  • • Like any organization, joining a fraternity does require some time commitment. However, fraternity life also saves time in ways such as:

    • Pre-planned and prepared meals

    • Pi Kappa Alpha is located in the middle of campus resulting in a quick walk anywhere especially the rec center

    • Automatic intramural sign-ups

    • Study groups held in house removing the need to go to the library

    • Putting in more time will result in a fuller experience, but we also understand that school is the number one priority. After all, it is the reason we are all here at S&T.

Why are you happy your son joined Pi Kappa Alpha? What do you like about being a PIKE Parent?

“I love that he has brothers to turn to for anything and everything. He has matured in many ways, especially with his leadership/management skills. We are very grateful for the many scholarships he has received through the fraternity. The PIKE fraternity aT Missouri S&T has set top priorities for all their members.
